Andy Dalton’s deal may have been monumental, but Alex Smith isn’t necessarily interested in a similar deal.
Smith indicated on Saturday that he is not interested in a deal similar to those of Colin Kaepernick and Andy Dalton. Smith is interested in a deal that will keep him in Kansas for the long run and not the type of “pay as you go” recently signed deals referenced above.
“I want to get something that’s right that I’m going to play out, absolutely, and that’s definitely a focus of mine,” Smith told USA today after Saturday’s training camp practice.
Smith is due a $7.5M base salary 2014, which is the last of a three-year deal he signed in 2012.
